but what are your thoughts on Nazis breastfeeding gay childfree HP fanartists?
I seriously debated whether this was funny enough to post -- I nearly wasn't going to -- but it has everything. Everything! Godwin's, breastfeeding, childfree, homophobia -- all the classics, packed into one convenient link.

[info]yonmei has a long history of battling LJ over standards of decency. Remember this? And its follow-up? (I just spent forever digging those up based on a hint in her GJ; I hope you appreciate it.) Well, she still hasn't let go, and posts to [info]fandomtossed over on GJ, trying to take advantage of the general disapproval of LJ to further her pet cause: breastfeeding icons. (Warning: yes, the post includes icons with breasts in -- no, there are no visible nipples.)

[info]yonmei says: The two icons under the lj-cut are, one, a default icon in use by a current member of various racist communities on livejournal, which depicts a woman's naked torso with black swastikas concealing her nipples: the other, a photograph of a newborn baby suckling, mouth so small it cannot cover the areola of the woman's nipple.

I recently got myself unsuspended from livejournal to save everything I could to various locations, which I have now done, and then got myself suspended again. Given the mess Six Apart are in trying to persuade people to stay, I wondered briefly if they'd change their minds about the obscenity of public breastfeeding, but evidently not.

Six Apart: where breastfeeding is obscene, but Nazis are tolerable.

But all is not well! [info]jackinhissocks agrees that breastfeeding icons shouldn't be banned, but refers to babies as "spawn" and "parasites," leading to the age-old "is 'parasite' a valid description of a dependent human being at any stage and if so which?" debate. S/he further believes that breastfeeding is sexual, because sex makes babies. Meanwhile, [info]ajatshatru denounces LJ's suck and cleverly calls it "elgay," with predictable results. Also, [info]moonsidhe wants to discuss whether or not the swastika is necessarily a Nazi symbol, for slightly unclear reasons.

Add a healthy side of bickering over the legality of public breastfeeding and toplessness, and top off the whole thing with [info]yonmei freezing threads if people disagree with her, and you've got a nice fresh postful of fail with a side of predictability sauce.

Then there's a mod post which will hypothetically stop the whole thing. And when all's said and done, I have only one question: why haven't I made a boobies icon yet?

P. S. No serious business, please. Please!

ETA: [info]ajatshatru has deleted the "elgay" comment and posted this:

I apologise for the disturbance my comment had created. I have removed it. And yes, as I've said elsewhere, I hadn't used the term deemed to be offensive on my own, but from http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/LiveJournal.
My mistake was not to have linked it in the first place.
I apologise again for the wankage over a quoted term, and request everyone to never comment again to either my posts or comments in this community as I shall not be able to answer these.

Thanking everyone in anticipation.

So bigoted language is now okay if you didn't make it up?

Bride of ETA: [info]sneer observed that [info]yonmei is now wanking away at the mod post. She's also unfrozen comments on the original post. This is not a hopeful situation, folks.

S/he further believes that breastfeeding is sexual, because sex makes babies.

. . . and babies grow up to become children and adults who eat solid food. Therefore, eating solid food is sexual. So's everything else, because adults were once babies, and sex makes babies.

Mah gud lerning: Everything's about sex.

Well. That explains a lot!

Everything's about sex.

Not true.

Some things are about death.

What about things that are about sex AND death?

I once played a game with friends where we tried to think of one thing--one thing!--that could not be boiled down to sex or death (actually, everything, including sex, came around to death in the end). We failed.

We were hammered at the time, but still.

I had a retreat leader who argued that very same thing--everything a person does is sexual, because we are sexual beings. While at the very same time trying to push abstinence because intercourse is the special sex.

It was a very confusing middle school experience.

I would suppose.

Also, baseball players jumping on each other in victory is exactly like an all-man orgy. Or something. I stopped paying attention after all the kissing.

When was it pretending? I guess you could make the case that the AWA wasn't homoerotic because they liked to push fat ugly dudes, but that just means Verne Gagne liked the bears.

In close detail, he was not only wrong, he was bug-fuck crazy.
