[info]thexphial posts in [info]bad_service that she was charged $4 for sitting at a table in a tex-mex restaurant and not eating. Her family finds this unreasonable, because she had just had her tonsils out and couldn't have eaten the free chips, etc. Yes, the policy is on the menu, but the type is tiny. Also, she thinks they wouldn't waive the fee because she's fat. Cue the special.

FREE MEANS FREE ZOMG
Don't blame the waitress
Not everyone hates fat people
It's definately because you're fat (Further down this thread, there is something about her having posted wankiness in the past)
You are imature and I want to ground you
Don't waste food

And don't share your thoughts on fat people or food wasting in the comments.

ETA: I'm having to turn off notifications for this post with the amount of serious teal dear now that OP has shown up and responded to everything ever.

I still have mine. :D

Let me tell you about the extraction of my wisdom teeth instead.

Did they give you any good drugs? My dentist had to whack me really hard with the anesthetics. I saw butterflies!

No. :( They put me out completely for the extraction, I guess because I got all four done at once. And I'm a big weenie when it comes to pain.

For afterwards they gave me tylenol with codine. And codine knocks me out.

I got all four of mine out at once too, so I also got knocked out completely. I went under so fast that when I woke up, I thought it hadn't been done yet.

Then I got Vicodin. When I was on it, I was all, "I'm not stoned or anything! This is totally normal!" Funny thing is, I don't remember much else about the couple of days following the procedure . . .

I don't remember the next couple of days after the proceedure either, but that's because I spent most of that time asleep. Like I said, codine knocks me out. Great for the pain, but it's definately not an 'entertaining' sort of medicine. At least, not for me it isn't.

I got all four out at once too, and I totally had the best drugs. I was paranoid about general anaesthesia, because I was underweight then (I had the metabolism of a lab rat on crack), but I didn't just want a local because I did not want to be alert. So they proposed a midground they called "twilight anesthesia," which they described as "we'll use pain killers, but no general anesthesia; we'll just also give you so many sedatives that you may just fall asleep all on your own anyway; and even if you don't, you won't care what the hell we're doing to you."

I said I had just one question: could I bring in a Walkman and listen to Hendrix while they were working? They said yes, and I was sold.

I remember nothing after they started the drugs until I was waking up on the couch back at home and Sleeper was on the TV.

Aw, I got all four out at once, and all I got were novacaine and laughing gas...

The gas wasn't even funny. :(

I had seven done at once. The four wisdom teeth, and then the three other teeth that had to be removed to let the rest of the stuff in my mouth fit. And, sadly, I still don't have quite enough room on the bottom. :/

The drugs I got for this little bit of surgery were numerous and potent. I'm not only terrified of pain, I'm terrified of needles. So they had to drug me with tranqs to be able to drug me with the stuff to put me under. 8D fun.

I have to admit, though. The little plastic water squirt thingy they gave me to clean out the incisions after I ate was awsome. *played with it for weeks*

I got knocked out, too. When I woke up, I just wanted to wave to everybody. My dad was joking about how I was acting like some sort of royal.

I was really looking forward to being on the good drugs, and then I actually took them and they made me really, really ill. I felt very cheated.

I had mine out, they numbed half my damn face and had to slice my wisdom teeth into pieces and pull them out one at a time because I had curved hooked roots. :D I especially loved spitting blood, remember that scene in fight club when he smiles with a mouth full of blood? I did that to someone in a store on the way home XD. It was fun.

The good news is I didn't really swell...

Why exactly (or to put it better, under what conditions) would they do that? Because I haven't been to a dentist in over a year and I'm pretty sure mine are bursting in now.

I think it mostly depends on how your wisdom teeth are growing in. Mine were comming in very crooked and for a few years before I had the actual surgery I had my dentist tell me every time I saw him that I should get them pulled before they started to hurt.

Sound advice that I opted to ignore until the teeth started to hurt. Pain is a wonderful motivator.

I hear some people never have to have them removed. Lucky them.

Any way of telling if they're coming in crooked before you go to an actual dentist?

I don't know. Mine were clearly visible on dental xrays for years before I got them taken out. If you've still got the phone number for the last dentist you saw, perhaps a quick phone call to their office could get you some more information?

If they really, really, really hurt or feel like they might be crowding your other teeth, that might be a sign. Mine were insanely painful because they were growing in against my other teeth.

But it can be hard to tell on your own, because some people's teeth don't even come through the gums, but they do weird things to the other teeth.

Pain is a wonderful motivator.

Indeed. I was hoping to get away with keeping mine, but they started shifting (I guess) in such a way that my entire mouth hurt. The best part was when I started getting shooting pains down the full length of a tooth that was broken on three separate occasions and is almost entirely fake. I have to get the two on my right side extracted at some point later the year.

My favorite part of the whole experience was seeing the vaguely disgusted looks on my friends' faces when I told them my dentist let me keep the extracted teeth.

I'm 28 and mine seem to be happy hiding in the back of my gumline. Which is a good thing as the bottom two, are sideways.

My dad is 48 and never had his removed. Every 6-8 months, they start to come in, and his face puffs up. He lays in bed and moans like a baby until they go away, and has done so for the LAST 30 YEARS. Apparantly, the thought of getting them pulled scares my (big, manly, cop) father so much that he'd rather deal with pain twice a year.

/my thoughts on fathers AND wisdom teeth.

I guess I'm lucky then, cos my dentist says mine will never grow in. Seems my mouth is too small and there's no room for them to go anywhere. 0__o
