ADA Wank, with a side of Mac Vs. PC and Liberal Vs. Conservative!
So, two California women are suing Apple for alleged accessibility violations in its SF retail store. The comments on the article are, needless to say, wanky, with some complaining about the liberal activist agenda, allegations that the women are just out to make a quick buck, and the occasional disabled person chiming in on both sides of the issue.

Also, WTF is a "standing wheelchair?"

My partner has one of those. I'm kinda considering trading in ye ole Windows machine for it. What's it like?

Well once I had a friend talk me through some of the differences its really not that much harder to use than a Windows laptop. The main difference really is the presence of the program dock down the bottom of the screen - its like your system tray and start menu all at once, and its customisable. Oh, and you could probably go without an anti-virus program if you had the desire (although there is apparently one virus that can attack OS X), but I'd probably recommend you get something so you don't inadvertently pass one on.

And its so shiny!

And I have to add, I'm totally enamoured of my multi-messenger program (Adium). When I get a message the icon jumps and flaps its wings :D

Aww... I want something that wing flaps.

Basically, I'm getting more into photography and wanting to do more stuff with the pics after their taken. I understand Macs are better for that than Windows. Do you have much experience there?

I haven't really fiddled with imaging yet I'm afraid. I haven't even dragged my mp3 collection over from my PC yet. I'm terrible at being a nerd :`(

I'm getting more into photography

I was skimming and read that as "I'm getting more into pornography".

The internets have permanently trashed up my brain! D:

What kind of MacBook did you get? My G3 PowerBook may have a dead motherboard; so, I've been researching the various permutations of MacBooks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I got the top-end (black) version of the regular MacBook. Its got more power (2.16GHz Core 2 Duo processor) and more memory (160Gb HDD) than I'll probably ever need, but I wanted to take it on the day rather than have to wait for weeks while the bottom and mid-range versions shipped. If all you want it for is surfing, word-processing and to run the iLife suite of programs on a basic level a MacBook will suffice. But if you're planning on gaming or anything that'll need massive processor speeds and RAM, you'd probably be better off with the MacBook Pro (its got faster processors, more RAM and better graphics cards).

In conclusion, I'm happy with my purchase two days after I made it :)

Good. Acquaint yourself with the serial number and the Apple number in your country. If yours is anything like mine, it'll be in the repair shop foreverandever.
