ADA Wank, with a side of Mac Vs. PC and Liberal Vs. Conservative!
So, two California women are suing Apple for alleged accessibility violations in its SF retail store. The comments on the article are, needless to say, wanky, with some complaining about the liberal activist agenda, allegations that the women are just out to make a quick buck, and the occasional disabled person chiming in on both sides of the issue.

Also, WTF is a "standing wheelchair?"

Don't even get me started or I will be here all night, and I have a date.

<3

Seriously, my partner is disabled, and I'm planning on trying to get a Disability Awareness Day off the ground at Uni next fall where we put the administration in wheelchairs or crutches and tell them to get around all day - with their school work, and having ten minutes to get between classes.

I'm hoping it'll make a point. It might just give me a headache, though.

wooo, date! I HOPE IT WAS NICE AND SAUCY. :D

yeah, I didn't acquire a Clue until I spent a few days trying to get around NYC and environs with a friend who uses a wheelchair, and found myself yelling at people in public and probably causing her great embarrassment. (And then I went home and did research and, uh, yelled at the computer.) It's the essence of privilege, really, you don't *see* these things until they're pointed at you. So I think your idea is FANTASTIC.

Good luck with organizing an awareness day. I think it's a fantastic idea.
