Strangest wank I've seen in a while. Clever troll, or really whacked-out person? You decide.

If you can't afford to buy a house that guarantees that your children don't have to share a room, don't have more children than you have bedrooms. No, srsly.

Srsly, if your children have to share a room, give them to someone more capable of taking care of them.

My brother and I shared a room until I was eight. . .But when we got up my dad hired a limo to drive us to Summerfest because our babysitter couldn't drive.

Guess I need to go tell him he was doing it wrong?

Everyone in my family shares a room! [Or did, until people moved out because they started university.] Six people in a three bedroom house necessitates this. I wonder what [info]teresina would think if she knew we only had — shock! — one bathroom for all those people too.

I like to think sharing a room for twenty-odd years has made me a more well-rounded person with a pretty good handle on the concepts of sharing, personal boundaries, and just plain old sucking it up, but what do I know.

I just remember the Full House where Michelle used to have her own room because she was the baby, but then DJ needed more privacy because she was a teenager, and so SHE got to have her own room...but meanwhile, didn't the other 2 need their own rooms as well? craziness.

When I have doubts about my parenting skills, I just think, "What would Uncle Jesse do?"

Oh, it's Inspiring Childhood Life Lessons Day on otf_wank? Okay, then. Let me tell you about the time I once lived in a one-room shack with my Grandpa Joe and Grandma Josephine and Grandpa George and Grandma Georgina and my mom and dad and we depended so much on each other and shared everything, and I mean everything, to help make it through the hard times after my dad lost his job at the toothpaste factory, and then the cops came and arrested my family for violating some obscure anti-deviancy law or something, I dunno, and I spent the rest of my childhood in foster homes.

People overlook the clearest advantage to sharing a room: there's a 50/50 chance the monster under the bed will eat your brother instead of you.

My sister and I usually had bunk beds (until the point when I was ten and she was eight and we moved into a house where we could have our own rooms), but we had to sleep in the same bed when we visited my grandmother's house. I wanted to sleep in the middle of the bed, because otherwise I woke up with her crammed on top of me, so I told her there was a monster that only ate people who slept in the middle of the bed and bravely volunteered to face it. She still hasn't forgiven me for the apparent years of terror I inflicted on her. /irrelevant thoughts on sharing

There's always abortion. Ultrasounds and whatnot tell you how many fetuses there are, you know, before you have them.

So kids shouldn't share rooms and fetuses shouldn't share wombs.

I feel like introducing this woman to the story of two of my mom's unmarried sisters. Up until a couple of years ago, when the youngest decided she wanted her own room in the family house, they shared a room in all the places they lived together. They're in their seventies, and they still have a shared room in the three-bedroom apartment where they live by themselves half of the year.

The idea that if two kids are 4 years apart they won't want to share a room is hilarious too. I'm convinced that the only reason my sisters (1.5 and 5.5 years younger than me) aren't still sharing the same room is because my parents stole the big one for themselves when the oldest went away for a year. A very nice room too, I didn't mind sharing it with them until I was 12; having all your kids sleep in the same room is great for bed-time reading aloud!

I agree with her. I once had to share my toys with my sister and it was traumatizing, I tell you. It's a wonder we didn't tear each other to pieces right there. I learned that day that sharing isn't caring at all -- it's evil manifest.
