If I knew you were wanking, I'd have iced a cake
Over in [info]hp_britglish, schemingreader makes the mistake of asking what the stuff you spread on top of a cake is called. Hint: It ain't "frosting".

[info]oncelikeshari thinks that butter icing is evil and wrong and should be stopped, or that it doesn't exist. I'm not entirely sure.

Either way, I want cake. :(

Short, but sweet.

I've never seen them before so they don't exist.

I'm sorry, you'll just have to make your own.

It's completely normal and typical! You don't know what you're talking about! Blah blah teal deer icingcakes!

Mmm... icingcakes...

Oh, you're from teal deer country. I'm from London so my facts outrank yours.

I offer you bitchcakes, chew on that!

Pfft. Your bitchcakes probably have vile icing on them. They are not real bitchcakes, they are evil and wrong and filled with buttercream instead of jam, you horrible plebe!

You Weasley types wouldn't know a proper cake even if it tried to eat you!

...Okay, yeah, you win. I can't top the "Weasleys don't eat buttercream" thing, that was just too bizarre. XD

Just remember, if you write a fic about Buffy getting one, it's a can of frosting!

It would be a tub, 'cause it's plastic, but tubs are wider and flatter and contain more frosting than your average thingie of frosting that I hesitate to call a can because it isn't metal. Buffy & Co. would probably discuss this in detail, it would be very in-character.

Frosting should really come in tubs. I would be all over that.

Everyone I know still calls it a can as a throwback to the days when it was metal. Also it is can-shaped, as opposed to a more shallow design i. e. margarine tubs.

I did a quick check of Duncan Hines (calls them tubs), Betty Crocker (doesn't say) and Pillsbury (calls them cans) so it appears the matter is up for some debate.

I'm telling you, big-ass gallon tubs of frosting. They should totally sell those in stores, it would be the best thing ever!

They sell big tubs of frosting at Costco. More than a gallon, I think, if I'm remembering the size right.

If men were made of frosting, I'd be a total whore for them, and not just in tubs.
