And now for something completely different. (Else, why you shouldn't write wank reports at 1:47 am)
The theater of war: Slashdot a veritable breeding ground for spitting hate, pseudo-intellectual discussion, and whining about how generally, things suck.

Cue a post about the Washington State Linux User Group's little idea of a Nerd Auction, a certainly lovely idea, and apparently one that was come up with in the shower by the group leader: Ben.

All is fine and well, until anonymous shows up.

Apparently for somebody out there, the accusations of the anonymous, (and possibly the not so anonymous burntpenguin) hit a bit close to home, and are srs buisness.

And then for bonus points, the ex-fiancee of Ben the leader shows up.

No godwin's law invoked yet though. I'm pretty sure it's there somewhere.

I was, long ago, called into the office of some bureaucrat to be raked over the coals for smoking a bidi (which in their Pullmanness they thought was a joint) while depositing the Anthropology Club's box-office for a showing of "Casablanca." Part of the surreal conversation included the phrase "WSU exists to provide a safe place for conservative parents on the coast to send their children away from the bad influences present at the University of Washington."

I see little has changed.

Mind you, when I worked for the University Bookstore, a customer complained because not only were we selling Cougar gear, but it was NEXT TO THE HUSKIES CROSS-CONTAMINATION ZOMG.

I spent a few minutes attempting to contemplate a life so devoid of meaning that this was srs bzns, but it made my brain hurt too much.

Well, it took UW to turn me into a drop-out, so I'm biased, but in truth I was a Husky fan through BAs from Evergreen and Wazzoo, and it took less than a quarter at UW to sour me on the place (except for the Medicinal Plant Garden).

It was trying to deal with the histrionic narcissism of Robert C. Dunnell that spoiled the place for me.

...and now I'm somewhat glad that I decided not to work there.
