Oh noez! I can has wankburger plz?
A post in the I Can Has Cheezburger livejournal feed has exploded in wank, because everyone knows lolcats are serious business. Apparently lion cuts for the kitties is a hot button controversial issue, so is what is and is not cool.

We've got douches, ignorant sluts, asses, and Comment Patrol Officers. And also your cat looks retarded.

So anyway, what are your thoughts on shaved pussy?

You know, I've had cats all my life, and know several other people who have them, too, and I've never heard of this, before.

I think it depends on the cat. Some cats, due to various reasons can't clean themselves. Others just don't. And some owners, who otherwise take superb care of their four-footed kin, can't or aren't allowed by the cat to groom them.

My best friend in high school had a beautiful white tiger Himalayan, "Queen Alice", who refused to groom herself and would pitch a suitably royal snit whenever someone tried to groom her. Her family couldn't afford to take her to the groomers often and the few times they did, the poor groomer got clawed, bit, pooped on and otherwise abused by Alice, who was ordinarily the sweetest, cuddliest thing ever. She would demand to be picked up and petted. Finally, the summer after they bought her, it got really hot and the poor thing got sick. While the vet had her, they gave her a lion cut for the matting and the heat. She hated everyone for about a week, then I suppose she figured out that they wouldn't shave her again if she took care of her own bloody coat. They still shaved her in the summer, but that she didn't mind.

Of course, some cats are just lazy/fat/arthritic/stubborn/insert reason here.

I'm seriously thinking about doing it for my boy. He hates being brushed, but he can't reach his ass, so he gets horrid mats back there.

It's only done for long-haired cats, and usually only if they have badly matted fur or live in a hot climate.

I'm from Florida, and in high school my girlfriend's parents got her cat shaved like this every summer so it didn't overheat. She also had a very old shi tzu. It was like a house full of Dr Seuss animals.
