Go off in the corner with your roast beef sandwich, while we build a better World.
Meanie cow-raping school district fires bold rebel for secretly teaching veganism in art class, instead of, um, art.

The former teacher, Dave Warwak, leaves no news article combox untouched in his quest, under the name inslidedotcom.

"teach them how Artists shape and guide morals in society With this knowledge, they can deal with the real world Use their art to create positive change Live longer Heal the earth I model what I teach I have been railroaded Posts removed You celebrate I appeal You pay Meat and Dairy laughs I cry"

Poetry.

And as his combox name might suggest, he has a website.

Yes, this is the man I want to teach MY children about art.

Edit: I turned off comment notification (ow, my inbox) so if anyone has any links to this guy wanking elsewhere (since he's wanked in two news articles at least, I'm sure there's more and will be more) please drop a comment in [info]joye's journal and I'll edit the post. Thanks.

My example isn't so bad as the ones above. Mine was just a History teacher who used the class to try and teach us (repeatedly) that men and Christians were less than scum and the world was a worse place for them.

Forgive me saying this, but how is that not as bad? Telling students that an entire gender is trash, while more than likely teaching students of said gender, is not a good thing. Bigotry is not really that healthy for growing minds, and if you're going to claim higher ground than the hypocrites (which I think we do by proclaiming that a group of people that is not us is scum, for Pete's sake) why not teach tolerance, and love, rather than hate?

I really hope I haven't insulted you, and I am genuinely curious as to why your experience with a bigot wasn't as bad as everyone else’s?

Hoping not to sound like a retard,

My experience wasn't that bad for a few reasons. First is that I was in a college course. Anybody in the class could drop at any time (and I eventually did). The second was that she was so incoherent and rambling that a six year old could have pointed out the holes in her logic. So instead of people finding it insulting, most of us in the targeted groups instead found it incredibly hilarious. Especially when she was directly contradicting things from the textbook to try and prove her point. Her incredibly insane diatribes probably did more good than harm, just by making people who might have otherwise agreed with her rethink themselves by way of wondering if they really wanted to be associated with the nutjob teaching the class.

She was, incidentally, fired anyway after that semester. Apparently her blatant sexism in grading the class was reported to the Dean quite a few times, including myself as I dropped the class.

Oh, well that's good. As long as the wankers get nailed for their wankery, I guess it is better.

Thanks for explaining.

I had a rhetorics teacher who was similar, though not as bad. Could blather on endlessly about the feminists in the seventies, mixed up what she wanted to say and tried to force some kind of "feminist" (but really just androphobic) view on everything. The worst part was that she wasn't even good at discussing these things and didn't like when we opposed her with our sensible arguments. Which is, uhm, buh what subject were you teaching now?

And when I complained during the after-class evaluation talk, she just said that since I had passed with good grades I should be happy. Wtf?

Compared to the pedophiles, I suppose it's not as bad.
