Go off in the corner with your roast beef sandwich, while we build a better World.
Meanie cow-raping school district fires bold rebel for secretly teaching veganism in art class, instead of, um, art.

The former teacher, Dave Warwak, leaves no news article combox untouched in his quest, under the name inslidedotcom.

"teach them how Artists shape and guide morals in society With this knowledge, they can deal with the real world Use their art to create positive change Live longer Heal the earth I model what I teach I have been railroaded Posts removed You celebrate I appeal You pay Meat and Dairy laughs I cry"

Poetry.

And as his combox name might suggest, he has a website.

Yes, this is the man I want to teach MY children about art.

Edit: I turned off comment notification (ow, my inbox) so if anyone has any links to this guy wanking elsewhere (since he's wanked in two news articles at least, I'm sure there's more and will be more) please drop a comment in [info]joye's journal and I'll edit the post. Thanks.

How they heck did he wind up teaching something he had no qualifications for then? Was it a case of "you're trained to work in a church, therefore you must know something about music"?

Well, he led his church choir. He wasn't a bad choirmaster. He just blew moose when it came to actually TEACHING in a public school. He acted as though music was our only care and was the only important class we had. Which is great and noble, except most of us were there because singing was a pleasant diversion offered in school.

I remember he pitched a fit once because the Choir Booster Students (Fundraisers and Support) wanted to institute a new rule: for the Spring Concert, each choir would get to choose one song that we would learn and would be conducted by a student. He insisted that the choirs were a dictatorship, not a democracy.

He didn't win a lot of points with us.

I said something like that once to my section in band. Of course, I was kidding.

Well... as a choir conductor (my internet credentials, let me show you them!), I do heartily agree with that statement. The trick is just not to let the people you're oppressing realise it. If they do realise, then you're doing something wrong.

Okay, I'll agree with that. But we knew we were and very few of us liked it or were willing to put up with it.
