I must confess, the idea of "Traditional Wicca" makes me giggle a bit. How far back does that tradition really go?

Pretty far, actually. *Refers you to Philip Heselton's very academic and well-researched book*

That, and "traditional" also refers to a practice that is passed intact from initiate to initiate, as opposed to covens that randomly change shit here and there and where their practices are extinguished when its members die or stop practicing.

Oh, at least to the early/mid-twentieth, when Gardner felt the need to justify his fetishes. (Aw, Gardner. Like Giles on crack, in a way.) Disputably further, but undisputably? 1954.

Which makes it only a few decades less traditional than things like the nuclear family. So I feel pretty okay about it.
