Bad Service wanks about welfare and made-up statistics
[info]ever_abstract makes a post to [info]bad_service about a trip to the grocery store involving an incredibly obnoxious cashier-manager duo who give her a hard time about WIC.

This prompts [info]starliteunicorn to tell the community that she thinks welfare is absolutely ridiculous. She goes on to inform us all:

I'm all for getting rid of it entirely. People used to help each OTHER out, instead of begging the government. And it bothers me. A lot. I don't get paid to just exsist-I have to work. I know some people CAN'T get jobs... but it seems extrodinarily unfair. Too many people leech off the welfare system without even ATTEMPTING to find work or get themselves to a better position. The stereotype of the drug addict mother to 6 different kids all with different daddies is true for about 65% of people coming through the various types of welfare (taken from a friend who does, indeed, work in a WIC office).

And it just snowballs from there.

Speaking as someone whose mother was a single parent trying to get through college, work, and raise two small children at the same time, with a screwed up family that refused to support her in her decision to finish her education...

ASKFHSKJSGJKDLDJKLS!! BITCH NO. DON'T GET ALL "Teehee lol, why can't they get jobs, like mine?!" Because that's all what it comes down to to you, isn't it? Obviously, they must need financial help because they're just sooo lazy, and the government's totally spoiling them! Liek, ttly unfair, what's up with that?! ARGH, DO NOT PRETEND YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ANYTHING.

/furious wanking.
Sorry. :| I had to get it off my chest.

I wonder what her thoughts are on moms whose husbands walk on on them leaving them to work more than fourty hours a week at Walmart and STILL not make ends meet who are on the program.

Oh wait, I already know. It's "Well, why can't they get a BETTER job?"

Ah, yes, the neverending refrain of "If they don't like working as a waitress/barrista/gas station/whatever because of the crap pay/shit treatment, they can always quit and get a different job!" Because it's just that easy.
