SixApart/Livejournal have the best idea ever!
So, uh, Livejournal.

Go figure.

Pull up a chair. Get out a beer. Take one sip for:

- each invocation of Big Brother (or any other 1984 reference)
- each mention of censorship
- each mention of the First Amendment
- each reiteration of "It's the PARENTS' job!"
- each person flagging the announcement post as offensive
- each person announcing that LJ/6A will no longer see a penny of theirs

Take one gulp for:

- each Godwin's
- each comparison of this new system to rape
- each assertion that the only people complaining are the child molestors who want free porn

And before you know it, you'll be just drunk enough not to care any more.

But LJ still has the most people, and thus there are more people there who might be available right now to LOOK AT HER LOOK LOOK LOOK ACKNOWLEDGE HER AND TALK ABOUT HER AND VALIDATE HER EXISTENCE OMG! And thus LJ is the only obvious choice.

I feel extremely sorry for all the Abuse Team people. From what I understand they are volunteers, doing this on their own time because they love Livejournal, with no real training or guidance. Plus they don't really have any say in LJ policy, so this isn't their idea. Nice of LJ/6A to dump a bomb in their laps this way.

It's hardly backdoor. You go to settings and scroll down to the bottom, and pick things out. Do not collapse and do not filter on the second and third, respectively, and things will carry on as normal.

You know, the only thing I'm worried about is that the kids won't get their porn quite as easily as they did when I was their age. But then, I wasn't on LiveJournal, I was on Fanfiction.net. Aaah, the good ol' days of click and read. And I remember thinking I was oh-so-clever to click every single link on a page so that if my parents came along and saw my history, I would just go, "I was looking at everything, but I hit 'back' on the dirty stuff, honest!"

But, fr srs, these kids need their porn. It's, like, essential for a life on the internet. They cannot grow into a fully mature Internet Adult without the pornage. WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?
