SixApart/Livejournal have the best idea ever!
So, uh, Livejournal.

Go figure.

Pull up a chair. Get out a beer. Take one sip for:

- each invocation of Big Brother (or any other 1984 reference)
- each mention of censorship
- each mention of the First Amendment
- each reiteration of "It's the PARENTS' job!"
- each person flagging the announcement post as offensive
- each person announcing that LJ/6A will no longer see a penny of theirs

Take one gulp for:

- each Godwin's
- each comparison of this new system to rape
- each assertion that the only people complaining are the child molestors who want free porn

And before you know it, you'll be just drunk enough not to care any more.

[eta] The girl who brought you LJ T-shirt burning now brings you... Honestly, I'm not sure what she's trying to do here.

Because children are totally able to make educated and informed decisions on their own.

A lot more so than adults give them credit for. And if they find they're over their heads, they can always leave the theater.

I got stuck seeing a stupid teen sex comedy and I didn't feel like I could leave the theater because I was there with my boyfriend. (They didn't enforce the rules about R ratings very well back then.)

Of course mostly I just thought it was a horrible movie and it wasn't so much that I was Morally Outraged or in over my head... but I'm not sure every teen going to a movie really feels like they can just leave if they can't handle it.

(That doesn't mean I really think that's a good reason for restricting R-rated movies using the current policy. Though if it keeps anyone from having to sit through something like Private School banning movies altogether starts looking good...)

Customers_Suck is filled with tales of adults who do the same thing, so it's not just a teen issue.
