In Short, as I understand it:
LJ was bought by SA, who proceeded to screw everrything over. Like all rats, they finally deserted a sinking ship dumped LJ on a company that runs the Russsian version of LJ and does so quite well.
Problem is, Russia is notoriously corrupt and some people are worried that private info may be sold to Russian spammers and mailing lists.
Beyond that, I have no idea.
