Cool Whip: It's a Floorwax and a Dessert Topping!
Over in the hip_domestics community, petrel asks the age old question, "Cool Whip is the same as whipped cream, right?" followed closely by "How do you make whipped cream anyway?" This draws some slight mumbling from the crowd on the evils of Cool Whip, nothing spectacular, really.

Anyhoo, domestic snark picks it up and upsets a friend of the original poster, coflower, who wouldn't have been upset if everyone knew what an IQ smart person [petrel] is.

Once again, short but sweet. (I should really stop looking at food comms when I'm hungry.)

You don't have to have specialized equipment, but once I bought this thing from Pampered Chef? It was a cylinder with a pump doohickey fitted with several disks, each with small holes in it. You'd pour the cream in along with whatever you want for flavoring (it came with a booklet that held a number of interesting ideas), pump it for something like 20 seconds, and BAM! Fresh whipped cream.

Between being able to customize it, and how awesome it tasted, I went through many, many, MANY pints of heavy cream. It was awesome.

Eventually it died. Now I just get a can of it unless I'm making banana cream pie. **Homer Simpson drooling sound**
