If she so damn poor, she should be living on ramen like every other poor college student, not eating out at places where tipping is customary.

Seriously. I'm a poor college student, and the only place I eat out is the Japanese restaurant down the block where you can get a good meal for $5, and that's only when I get tired of Easy-mac.
