So, I was familiar with this before you posted, for a weird and F_W connected reason:
Lee Goldberg, whose sisters are scrapbookers, posted about it. He compared it with the LA Times lack of coverage of the Cassie Edwards plagiarism case, and the comments thread includes a funny-ish anti-fanfic joke.
