Anonymous declares War on Scientology
Yep, that's right. It seems that Tom Cruise's googly moogly brainwashing video and it's subsequent removal from the net bunched up anonymous' panties. So it's war! They have named their movement "Project Chanology" and you can read all the sordid details on Encyclopedia Dramatica and The Insurgent Wiki and read what anonymous is up to on the discuss boards ED and IW.

So far, the plan of attack is a massive barrage of Denial of Service attacks that have been unleashed upon various scientology sites. It seems that one website, Religiousfreedomwatch.org (currently down), has offered a reward for various participants.

The Project Chanologists want the word out. They've created a video of intent that has been dugg nearly 5,000 times . News of the hacking of some top secret Scientology documents has been dug over 3,000 times. They've even put out a Press Release. Project Chanology wants you to spread the word of anonymous.

So far, few sites have picked up on it. A few that have taken notice are The Budapest Times, Wikinews, Gawker, and USAtoday.com.

Even the cute little denizens of Gaia are going at it but oh noes! dissenters!

Overall, it's pretty amusing. I'm sure I'm not the only one that wonders if this “hacktivism” can really bring down the “Church” of Scientology. After all, let's face it, Anonymous has way more free time on its hands than Scientology has money, lawyers, and movie stars put together.

Edit: Insugent Wiki links are currently being redirected to ebausmworld. =/ All better.

Fake blogger, fake report. Also, Lalo Schiffrin and the guys from U2 did the theme for the '96 movie that's sampled. Danny Elfman's a talented guy, and did do the original music for the soundtrack, but that blogger's whole schtick is that he makes things up. Ah, the internet.

Yeah, I wondered about the copyright thing given that he didn't write the theme.

But oh well. The rest, about his family, is true (Jenna and Bodhi are public knowledge anyway).

Rick Elfman too. And miss Rachael Rowan.

Danny's an atheist though, Clare is Jewish, not sure about Judy, and Louis doesn't show up in any official Scientology records. So there are still some sane Elfmen left.

"Sane" being a matter of perspective in that family.

I remember a wank a loooong time ago when white supremicists found out that Danny was Jewish...so just his heritage then? (I'd link you, but my Memories aren't working worth squat)

Then there's Doug Elfman, but he's only a distant relative (he refers to the others as the "Hollywood Elfmans")
