Cute Overload, in addition to being full of cute animals, is often also full of wank. Most posts contain at least one accusation of animal cruelty, and this one, about a Scottish Fold cat with exceptionally stubby legs, is no exception.

Comments about animal breeding begin on the very first comment and only continue down the thread.

Adopt a shelter cat!

This sucks. Animal-cruelty is what it is.

CAPSLOCK OF EMPHASIS!

None of us would advocate breaking puppies' legs just because they can look really cute in casts.

I don't know about you, but I plan to go break some puppy legs later this afternoon!

I believe there was wank about this on CuteOverload a few months ago, too. I actually asked my cat's vet about this once, and apparently it's a pretty common natural mutation that doesn't actually harm the cat at all (whereas it is harmful in dogs). So, uh... CUTE!!! <3 <3 <3

The fact that wank exists on a site like CuteOverload says a lot about the mentality of people using the internet, I think.

OH GOD THE CUTE

It reminds me of what my (accidental!) Munchkin looked like as a kitten.

And also: I rescued said Munchkin cat from one of my brother's friends, who was going to use her to start a kitten farm. What does that make me?

One of the videos with this cat is up for "Most Adorable" on the YouTube 2007 awards. Curiously there doesn't seem to be that much wank in the comments on YouTube itself. When YouTube comments look sane in comparison, something is very, very wrong.

I love how it doesn't even matter that several of the first commenters pointed out that the cats don't have any problems from having short legs and folded ears, and yet people keep going "THEY MUST! THEY MUUUST BECAUSE THEY DON'T LOOK NORMAL TO ME!" It's kind of like the kitty borg or something. "We are the kitty borg. Prepare to be enlongated. Cuteness is futile."

Also: Breeding is always wrong. Fwuh? Okay, I know everyone has to neuter or spay all their pets all the time because everything humans do is always wrong and all that, but without breeding at all... we would have a serious lack of kitty on Earth.
