May I grope your breasts? It's liberating!
Seriously? This hasn't been wanked yet?

EDIT: Answer - It has, in elsecomm. Go there!

Oh, well. Posting on behalf of mouse who did all the work on [info]wank_report. Seriously, I just futzed around with the links here and there. Hail mouse!

ANYWAY - At a recent con, someone had a brainwave.

"This should be a better world," a friend of mine said. "A more honest one, where sex isn't shameful or degrading. I wish this was the kind of world where say, 'Wow, I'd like to touch your breasts,' and people would understand that it's not a way of reducing you to a set of nipples and ignoring the rest of you, but rather a way of saying that I may not yet know your mind, but your body is beautiful."

This is from a post *endorsing* the product of said brainwave, the Open Source Boobs Project.

The project was, basically, walking up to women and offering them buttons that said "Yes you may" and "No you may not" the may in question being "May I ask to touch your breasts?"

Surprisingly, not everyone in the world thought this was a wonderful idea. Breast wank ensues! ... Not that kind of wank. Um. We hope?

"I'm not trying to be adversarial here, I'm just confused. Many people seem to be upset by this, but if you were uncomfortable with the idea wouldn't it be refreshing to be able to just put on a red button to keep the annoying men away?

Sometimes, I like to enjoy the delusion of living in a world where what a woman has on her chest isn't the primarily important thing about her, whether it be buttons or shirts or what-have-you."

(Here.)

"Women's breasts are not magical devices for healing straight men's psyches. Women's bodies do not exist to make straight men feel better about themselves. Women have their own shit to deal with, and a lot of the time, that shit is us, even (sometimes especially) when we're trying to do better"

([info]tablesaw leads the straight male opposition.)

Next: More outrage outside the post here!

" Ah, yes, wouldn't it be wonderful if we could live in a world where some random guy I don't know can ask me, without any sort of shame, if he can grope me?

NO, MOTHERFUCKERS. NO, IT WOULD NOT."

(From here.)

"Because the way to an egalitarian and less body-conscious utopia is for women's bodies to default to public space. We just don't have enough sexualized treatment of women as bodies instead of whole social persons in public spaces!

Fuck you."

(Here.)

"It is not assumed that you, random stranger, are entitled to take my life unless I am wearing a shirt that says, "Do not kill me.""

(Here.)

Aaaand bits from comments; Here, here, here and EVERYWHERE.

And then, of course, revenge of the LOLs.

The open source knuckle sandwich!

"Can you imagine a situation, where you could be hanging out with a bunch of friends at a con, and you could see someone who's face was just begging to be punched, and you could say,
"Excuse me. You're very beautiful. I'd like to punch you in the face. Would you mind if I did?"

"You'd hold your breath, not wanting to offend. This could go wrong, collapsing and turning you into cruel sadists who'd make the person you'd approach feel uncomfortable and shamed of who he was....

But imagine how liberating, how freeing, how healing, when the answer comes back yes. Yes! YESSSSSSSS!"

And, obviously,

The open source swift kick to the balls project!

"As we all know, many women long to give a swift kick in the balls to some male person or other. Yet all too often women are prohibited from doing so.

...

"To this end, we propose a community-based Open Source Swift Kick to the Balls Project."

theferret responds:

In a post here.

And after freezing, and... possibly bahleeting? some comments, a reply here.

And apparently there wasn't bahleeting, but there are caps just in case.

FUN TIMES!

Bonus points: Catch the 'open sourcers support me in ???'!

Generally speaking, I am all about the posting of boobies when it is about enjoying the beauty of lovely natural boobies in all their many shapes and sizes and colors and levels of sagginess and so on and so forth, because cleavage is beautiful and I have spent enough of my fucking life being ashamed of mine and trying to hide it and generally feeling like there's something wrong with me for having these things on my chest. There is a certain joy in a comm full of (mostly) girls going, "Hey, you know what's nice? Boobs. Let us celebrate them! Whee!"

Sexist pricks thinking they have implicit permission to ask complete strangers if they can feel their tits completely ruins that joy, not to mention skeeving me right the fuck out and putting me right back into that whole 'minimizing bra and t-shirts three sizes too big with a flannel shirt over it' mindset all over again. They're my tits, and I should goddamn well be able to celebrate having them without some fucking asshole thinking that gives him the right to just walk up and ask if he can touch. Bastards.

So now I can't post with boobies because it makes me feel all ick. Once again, society's pervasive misogyny invades and ruins everything. I am filled with hate. Grr, argh.

I know what you mean - I wanted to use this icon in a reply to the other post, but I just couldn't because theferrett made me feel all icky :(

Stupid misogyny.

Which is ironic, of course, because that icon really embodies the point that they were supposedly trying to make with this whole stupid thing, except that I sincerely doubt that they actually had all shapes and sizes in mind in the least, and also they clearly really only wanted to just go around feeling women's chests without giving a shit how the women would actually feel about something like that. Assholes.

Just so you know, though, I have always loved that icon. *loves*

Yes, I feel that enough hot naked men would ease our womanly pain and allow us to enjoy the boobies again. Donations? For a worthy cause?

See, [info]puipui, I understood that's what you were doing, and that's why I was willing to play with you, [info]harrylovesron, and so on. :)

The idiots upthread? Not so much.

Also, the boobie train is highly context-specific. We're doing it in F_W, where the average IQ of people is much higher than most other places, and people are really aware of gender issues. A boobie train in F_W isn't the same as a boobie train in, say, 4chan. Context matters.

It does and it doesn't. On the one hand, yes, this place is not full of creepy guys furiously wanking to 100x100 pixel breasts, it's not purely about the viewer's sexual satisfaction.

On the other hand, objectifying breasts (because that's *still* what it is, even if you aren't male) is objectifying breasts. Just because women are doing it doesn't magically make it inoffensive and/or empowering, because it's still fitting with the socialization that breasts should be looked at and glorified and eroticized. And when all of the people involved in the threads are remarking on how attractive said breasts are, well, it really doesn't look that progressive.

add in the asshole on a Dragon*Con community that told me if I didn't want to be hassled by perfect strangers wanting to touch my DDs, I shouldn't dress so skimpily, and I find I have no sense of humor about this issue AT ALL.

however, I will share a glimpse of said DDs. for my fandom_wank friends (male and female), cos I love YOU all.

I have to confess, every single time I see that icon, I'm always fooled into thinking that it's from some really really gorgeous renaissance painting or something, so I never fail to be shocked that it's an actual picture of your actual loveliness. Amazing. ILU! ♥

it is, indeed. The Husband took it when I was modeling my first mockup of my first (very unsuccessful) corset.

I'm enough of a girl to enjoy the reactions I get sometimes, but also enough of a girl to wish men - even men I've known for years and years - wouldn't just talk to the boobs.
