To be honest, before I read these comments I thought cats almost never overate either. I guess I knew they could get fat but I didn't see so much of that either. Though I have heard of dogs eating until they just get dangerously ill if they get into a bag of food.

I did know a cat that loved to get wet and would get in the bathroom sink and wait for people to turn it on. His owners had serious disabilities and took bed-baths but he probably would have crazy about being in the shower. My ex-husband told me that's a sign of a skin condition but I never saw any other sign that he had a skin condition so I think he just liked to get wet.

The only overweight cat I had ever met belonged to a friend, and I never did learn exactly how she got that way. All I know is that they tried several different diet foods and methods that never worked. The family loved her, and took really good care of her even after she developed diabetes she lived to 18. It makes me a bit angry to think that people
would accuse them of animal abuse when they took such good care of her.
overweight=/=lack of love and care.

Caddy doesn't show any signs of a skin condition. He's got as far as I can tell very health skin, and a healthy coat. The biggest sign of no skin condition I think is that our vet would never pass up the opportunity to sell us a super expensive medication/medicated shampoo.
