Semper Fur
So, there's a country singer named Kelly Foxton who likes to dress up her pet squirrel in little outfits. Lots and lots of little outfits.

Now, Sugar Bush is no ordinary squirrel. She is a patriotic squirrel! Many of the pictures on the site are bizarrely militaristic, and frankly, just a liiiittle creepy. Here, for example, Sugar Bush inspects the gallows in preparation for Saddam Hussein's assassination.

The fun begins when the Sugar Bush Squirrel (TM!) page gets linked on Cute Overload.

There is plenty of the expected, "ZOMG, dressing up your squirrel is WRONG!" wank. However, the wank truly becomes golden when people begin hotly debating Sugar Bush's politics. Jamie kicks it off by remarking that the site is "Cute. But far too right wing." Several others chime in to agree with Jamie, but Squirrel lover is incensed:

Not to add into the commentroversy... but "too right wing"???

So, no one can have an opinion or outlook that may be different from yours?

And people wonder why I don't respect so-called "liberals"

Loretta wants to know why Ms. Foxton is spending all of her time making squirrel outfits when she could be contributing to the betterment of the world!

pandasocks quotes a passage from Sugar Bush's website that is worth the price of admission all by itself:

"Sugar Bush has even attracted the attention of the enemy. 'I get e-mails from Arabs — I even sent one of them to the CIA,' Foxton says. 'I think for a while they've been intercepting my e-mails anyway.' According to Foxton, this particular correspondent claimed to know the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden, but the CIA wasn't interested in following up the tip.

"'They should check every lead — don't fluff us off,' Foxton says. 'This guy has information about Osama, and he's willing to tell Sugar Bush.'

turkey bear is offended by the image of the squirrel as a Catholic priest!

fifi sums up the whole bizarre situation best:

the thing about the politics is...
really, what political message is sent by dressing up your squirrel in military garb?

It borders on the parodic, or the surreal.
Too aesthetically bizarre to be deemed mere partisanship--regardless of the conscious intentions of the artist.

It's a rodent-folk-art version of Cindy Sherman!

I misread the wank report and thought Kelly Foxton like to dress up as a squirrel herself.

On the one hand, clicking on a link and being surprised to see an actual squirrel, not a furry, is a sure sign I've spent too much time on the internets. On the other, the reality is even more bizarre.

"Dear Squirrel: In the Name of Most Merciful Allah, I am a random Arab and normally completely dedicated to the destruction of the Great Satan America. However, I am now willing to disclose to you and only you the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden, purely because you are so OMGKEWT in your little costumes! The lifespan of a squirrel is around two-four years. Someone's going to feel pretty stupid, pretty soon, that is if that thing's actually alive and not jointed and stuffed.

What the hell's wrong with me? All I can think is, "There's no way that gallows could possibly function. It needs a bigger drop, thinner cord, and much more secure footing."

And of course it's much too small for Saddam Hussein.

Tears run from the eyes of U.S. President George W. Bush and Sugar Bush Squirrel during a ceremony in honor of Medal of Honor winner Marine Cpl. Jason Dunham in the East room of the White House in Washington, January 11, 2007. Cpl. Dunham was killed when he jumped on a grenade to save fellow members of his Marine patrol while serving in Iraq. For those of you who think these two patriots have no feelings for those who have fallen...think again!

The pictures for this are hilarious. It's about 1/4 of the way down the page. Is that glycerin or corn syrup she's using for the squirrel tear? Or did she just poke it in the eye?

If that is not faked it is definitely cruelty to animals. I can not imagine that a squirrel wants to abused to dress up like a clown for the amusement of some dumbasses.

Assuming the squirrel is alive, and not drugged, I don't think it's possible to force it to pose like that. They're pretty spry, and I know for a fact that they have some impressive teeth.

But of course, the poor thing has no idea that her owner is posting these pictures all over the internet, either, I bet. She would be traumatized! (Don't worry, Sugar Bush, I'm sure we can find you a lawyer. Sue the hell out of that bitch!)

The strongest survival trait of the invasive Eastern Grey Squirrel is that the little bastards are so cute that people are lulled into letting them hang around until they've taken over the whole damned world, and then it's too late.

Seriously- if they had nasty pointy noses and smaller eyes and naked tails, nobody would feed them dried corn.
