Best Letter Ever
Over on the blog That Canadian Girl, a post appears about a friend of the blogger who recently drained a pond behind his new house and found a very odd letter. Many commenters find the humor in this, but then of course, there are those who find something to argue about. You'll find cries of "omg you destroyed the pond" and "shut up, it was for the children!" And of course, "your spelling sux!" Enjoy!

ETA: HTML fixed! *flies away*

I swear to god I hope that letter is real, because that is the craziest thing I have ever seen.

It's almost as good as the back-in-time sense of entitlement. Because how dare this man do whatever he wants with his property, right? Obviously no one should make alterations to their house or yard ever, because OMG someone put work into that! You bastard!

My parents moved house when I was six month old. I'm now 37. But every time we drive past that house, my mother complains that one of the subsequent owners cut down a tree she'd planted in the garden.

The grammar nazi bitching about whinging versus whining is hilarious. I especially love when he gives the blog owner permission to utilize whatever word he/she/it would like. So kind of him.

Yeah, don't you hate it how everything has to be kept "childsafe" these days? It should be the parents' responsibility to OH WAIT.

Yes, we all know the risks of children drowning UNATTENDED in a swimming pool or other body of water. Should these parents ever decide to actually sit down and learn what parenting means, they may discover that once they have children, they are not supposed to go traipsing off to whatever party or social gathering or whatever they wish to do.

Yes, because God forbid that anyone who's a parent do anything but hover obsessively over their children, screaming in alarm if they run around corners or bounce up and down on trampolines. Babysitters don't exist, and relatives willing to take care of the children are tools of the devil.

Worryingly I think it's starting to make sense.

Good thing I have no plans to put a pond in my own yard.

Yes, how dare someone do whatever they want with something you built that you sold to them! (Or at least I'm assuming it was sold to them).

I can understand being miffed that your hard work is destroyed, but seriously. That note is creepy. xD

Also: how dare parents have the foresight to take precautions for their young children! Why, you'd think that the kids weren't in the parents' sight every second of every day! Now that's jut bad parenting.

I'd leave a note like that.

And I'd be laughing my ass off as I wrote it--as I suspect the person who left that note under the pond in 2003 did.

Come on--"snivelling pond-destroyer?" "I hope your head falls off?" That's pretty lulzy stuff.

Then again, I used to work in construction, and did a lot of remodeling gigs. During demolition on jobs I'd occasionally find anonymous "Easter eggs" left by the original builders or subsequent remodeling crews. That inspired me to start leaving my own, for future demolition crews to find.

(It's sort of the building trades' ultra-lo-fi version of [info]lol_meme, now that I think about it.)

On one really godawful master bath remodel I put a note behind the medicine cabinet, thanking a future demolition crew for tearing out all my hard work because the customers had far more money than taste and such a grotesque bathroom should never have been allowed to exist in the first place. That was in Hillsboro, CA in 1992, so chances are very good somebody's long since found it on a subsequent remodel...

Actually, since I went into almost i_wank mode about playgrounds... Dug this metaquotes post up. Happy childhood memories ahoy!

XD I remember in fifth grade, we'd get yelled at for playing a game where we tried to fit as many people on the slide as possible (and this was a metal slide, tall enough that it initially invoked my fear of heights) without anyone being pushed off the end. There was a lot of squealing and bracing ourselves when one of the fat kids would be coming down...

That seriously is the best letter ever.

But OMG. Once again I've been confronted by the overwhelming stupidity and obnoxiousness of people.

Also, as an Aussie, I always thought 'whinging' and 'whining' were two completely separate words, meaning something similar but not exactly the same. For example, I use and have heard others use, the expression: 'Having a whinge and a whine.'
