Best Letter Ever
Over on the blog That Canadian Girl, a post appears about a friend of the blogger who recently drained a pond behind his new house and found a very odd letter. Many commenters find the humor in this, but then of course, there are those who find something to argue about. You'll find cries of "omg you destroyed the pond" and "shut up, it was for the children!" And of course, "your spelling sux!" Enjoy!

I am a bit surprised to find myself in the minority of those who don't find this creepy or obnoxious, but in fact hilarious. I totally want to start slipping notes like this into out-of-the-way nooks at construction sites and the like.

If you want to ensure folks read them I'd suggest slipping them into library books.

A letter about the evils of badly written porn in the latest Anita Blake book perhaps.

Oh you vile, vile tempter/ess! My brain is writing it despite all commands to the contrary, and it's gone from "This terrible porn ruined my dog, and raped my truck, and stole my wife!" to "IT TURNED ME INTO A NEWT!"

That would be a fun group prank sometime. Everyone goes to library and inserts at least one letter into a book.

Particularly if they're all spread out and it hits public libraries like an epidemic.

So... we could set a date for that, right?

Tempter I'm a guy.

I've been thinking about it ever since I noticed the local library carries every Anne Rice & Laurel K Hamilton book but somehow any book with gay characters or themes seems to never make it to the shelf.

Um, Anne Rice books aren't gay themed? o.O I'm interrogating them from the wrong perspective, perhaps.

The first thing I'm going to do now after buying a home/apartment/dwelling is get some nice stationary and a good pen to write notes for random features I put in my house. Then I'll have them laminated and hide them.

And when I'm done with that, I'll write notes for things I didn't even HAVE in the house and leave weird notes bitching people out for things that never existed in the first place.

I want to be buried with an angry letter addressed to future archaeologists.

In Lolcat, just to to really confuse them.

You know, they'll think it was some obscure religious text.

*archaeologist jokes!*

If you don't know what it's for, it's religious!

The Egpytians beat me to it, though "I has a Ba!" Noo, they be stealing my corpse" and "I made you a curse, but I eated it" are probably not standard magical texts.

Father has expressed the desire to be buried in full Viking armor in Minnesota. To confuse future archaeologists.

My Dad used to drop a couple of copper coins into the foundations of every house he built, years ago. Now I'm wishing he'd left notes saying "Knocked my house down, you bastard? Hope your balls drop off!"

I find it hilarious and I think the writer intended it to be so. It's that odd British humour thing.

Yeah, it's pretty funny. Anyone who is offering "bitten by a wildebeast" as a possible motivation for pond removal is probably just doing their part to make the world a weirder place.

That was my take, that someone was being funny. Bitten on the ankle by a wildebeest? "I hope your head falls off"? I think it's pretty obviously meant to be funny.

And it is.

I think it's hilarious. Maybe with a little bit of actual feeling behind it (though it's probably more frustration at the putting in of the pond than that it's being drained), but definitely funny. I also find it funny that people are actually claiming it's a real threat and that THE POLICE SHOULD HAVE THIS OMG. No imagination, these folks.
