(I am, however, reminded of the time my brother was telling "Jew jokes" with his friends, and someone said "hey, uh, maybe you shouldn't say that" and when he asked why, they said it was because he wasn't Jewish.

We are Jewish. Not very religious, but very culturally connected. He goes to a very Jewish high school, which is unrelated to our Jewishness, but still, they all refused to believe that he was a Jew, which in itself was just hilarious.)
