Facebook upgrade
Facebook is trying on a new layout, and it blows.

Most people hate it and want the old layout back. There are comparisons to MySpace. The white space is burning everyone's retinas. Many defenders jump in with "change happens, get used to it." Everyone wants their customization back. It won't work with IE or anything older than FF 3.0. There is panic as people can't find the "opt out" link, or it won't work. Ads suck. Apps have disappeared. Etc.

Murder and mayhem roam the streets of the Intarwebs!

Some gems (last names removed for privacy):

Change is beautiful, marvelous, and natural. This is horrifying. Facebook should progress, not regress.

The change I'm not embracing is NOT being able to log in using IE7 !!

William and Kevin: Defenders of Facebook!

Facebook was ruined by users themselves for installing 30+ apps and making your profile 20 pages long, and take forever to load. This facebook update is to fix the clutter of 100s of useless apps

William (UNI) wrote

Exactly! Thank you Shaun for getting it. Maybe if everyone actually read the purpose of the update before just subscribing to a page. If people stuck with what they were content with, society would never grow and get better. It'll be understandably hard to get used to at first, but people will adapt. You may not remember, but people were upset and confused when Facebook first added the wall. People obviously embrace that idea now.
[Facebook = Sociology, guys!]

Rachel and William get into a lovers quarrel. After a lot of bickering...

They have a specific hyperlink to send feedback mentioned in the text above (which no one has ever seemed to notice or read, since the purpose of this redesign isn't abundantly known): "on the top of the screen, you will see the option to send feedback..."

Rachel (Chicago, IL) wrote

I DID send feedback!

Congratulations, your opinions will be taken in account for future Facebook products. Is that not good enough for you?

nope. and now, I'm bored.

peace.

ALSO.

As William (UNI) noted, people who are complaining on how bad it is, and how they hate it, change it back. I'll repeat what William said.

1. THIS IS A BETA.
2. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, OPT OUT AND GO BACK TO OLD FACEBOOK.
3. LAZY TO OPT OUT? NOTICE THAT LINK THAT SAYS "Go back to the old Facebook" CLICK IT.
4. PEOPLE ARE RUINING THEIR OWN PAGES BY INSTALLING 30+ APPS, THUS MAKING IT UBER CUMBERSOME TO MANAGE.
5. REFER TO NUMBERS 2 & 3.
6. REFER TO NUMBER 5.

Seems like every other Facebooker has the "Peter Pan Complex." People need to grow up and stick with it. If you dislike change, that's not going to move you forward in life. Then he/she will fail to achieve results and greatness in society.
[Looks like there's Facebook psychology as well.]

Kirst doesn't like Kevin's retorts to her posts.

Mate, you ever heard of a thing called freedom of speech! Who are you? really, to speak to me like this, i am posting my opinions, they didnt specify whether or not they wanted good or bad comments! Take your smart self somewhere else!

I'm Kevin, nice to meet you. You're posting your opinions, yes. I don't have any problems with it. Just VERY, VERY irritated that you refuse to do something about this change. With some exploration around the new site, you will find the features you want. You will find what you want to do. You committed yourself to something, then BAM!! You don't want it. It could be a good thing, you'd never know because you opted out. Take time and explore around then you'll find what you want and or need. I'm sorry for getting all over your back-- just very irritated.

...And it goes on.
