Holy shit, the people in that post are being too fucking srs for me to deal with before noon.

In other news, only heathens don't put both lids down after they use the toilet. ;)

YES. People think I'm weird because I insist on closing the toilet. Do they think the second lid is there for decoration?! Savages.

Honestly! It's like leaving your cupboard doors open. :P

The six year old me thought: "Clearly, you've got to put both lids down so that you can use the toilet as a chair while you brush your teeth. Standing is hard."

There's almost certainly a "butthurt" joke to be made about the srs bznes, but I haven't had enought coffee yet.

Also, if I don't close both lids, the kitty cats 'swim' so I'm *snerk* anal about it. *is 12* However, that necessity has led to the wonderful realization that when I'm clumsy in the morning and drop things, it's fantastic to have a closed toilet.

I'm currently living with a male roommate who not only forgets to put the seat and lid down -- sometimes he forgets to flush.

Seriously, why would you want to risk your toothbrush or whatever getting knocked in the toilet?

It didn't really matter to me either way until I read that the spray from a flushing toilet can spread up to fifteen feet. And most bathrooms aren't very big. So basically, if you don't close the lid even before you flush, everything in your bathroom gets germy... including your toothbrush.

Yeah. I'm kind of OCD about it now.

I remember reading that when I was 13 or something. I told my mom and she was proudly vindicated about her constant nagging for us all to close the toilet whenever we were done.

OH GOD. Okay, I might just start shutting it now. Reason I don't, though, is that I forget it's up and slam my ass on a closed lid. Which, with fibro, hurts like hell. But better that than... this.

(I get it half right anyway. The guest bathroom, where people are likely to see it, gets closed always (but I rarely ever use it). The main bathroom doesn't. Will be changing that now!)

This! This. I don't make others do it and obvious I can't do much in public restrooms, but I try to minimize nasty toilet water getting on my toothbrush. D:

I insist on changing my toothbrush almost every month and keep it covered AT ALL TIMES because I'm anal like that. I just can't stand the thought of germs...and my 11-yr old son accused me of being OCD because I always make him wash his hands at the drop of a hat. (the fact that he's always into stuff makes no never mind to him @.@) Plus I'm always on them to put the damned seats down etc. and have now moved into my OWN SHINY bathroom because I can't stand the mess they leave the main bathroom in. (the joys of living in a huge-ass house with more bathrooms than ppl. <3 Tho the heating bills are atrocious...)

I do not understand people who leave the lid up. It exists for a reason, people! You put it down, and then you flush. Also, it is handy for putting your foot up on when drying your legs and other various activities.

Not if you live in my house. The toilet's not actually in the bathroom, and if the bog lid's down you just know Someone Else has done a massive unflushable poo and they don't want you to know. Ah, the great British toilet!

I have to put both seats down. I have a cat who, given the choice, would rather nap in the toilet (water and all). No joke.

[info]lobsterbomb

I was going to say 'cats' being the primary reason, but mine was more a matter of 'alternative water source' and not 'alternative napping source'.

I think you win this one.

WORD. I was once told it's bad for feng shui, as well. So many reasons. And really, how hard is it to remember to close?
