YES. People think I'm weird because I insist on closing the toilet. Do they think the second lid is there for decoration?! Savages.

Honestly! It's like leaving your cupboard doors open. :P

The six year old me thought: "Clearly, you've got to put both lids down so that you can use the toilet as a chair while you brush your teeth. Standing is hard."

I put mine down so the crocodiles wouldn't come up and throw up their poisonous plaster, leaving me strangled in the bathtub.

I don't know where I got the idea from, but I do know that I thought about it often. Also, the fireplace was going to eat me.

I don't have a working sense of smell, so my brain goes "If I close the toilet lid, the smell won't be as prominent!"

I put it down so the cat won't mistake the toilet for her water bowl. (She hasn't for a while, but better safe than sorry amirite? XD)

I do the same thing. I used to leave the top one open but now? I have to keep it closed. Otherwise ew. Damn cat. ;)

I put mine down so my birds won't accidentally fly in it and drown.

Also, consider, flushing creates a certain amount of aerosol from the stuff in there. And most people store stuff on their bathroom counters that they put in their mouth, like toothbrushes.
