At the place where I used to work, one of the women installed a beeper on the toilet seat, which would make a beeping noise if the seat was left up too long. It wasn't actually because she hated putting the seat down, it was because she was a neat freak on the level of Adrian Monk and hated seeing whatever had collected on the rim.

However the men would go, leave the seat up, and go somewhere else where they couldn't hear the beep, and I (not a man) would have to go put the damn thing down. It drove me crazy. Sometimes I'd try informing them that they left the toilet seat up and they gave me funny looks. I hated that beeper.

However, my ex-husband never, ever left the seat up.
