	They're really not that bad...much worse is having to shell out money for a few squares of toilet paper. If you need more, well, there's a water bucket next to the toilet with a cup in it. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

I now feel like I have to be fair...it's an unbelievably impoverished society, and so the charge for TP is basically a way for a poor woman to make a little money off of rich tourists. Didn't mean I didn't have profound culture shock the entire time I was there, but the toilet issue was tied up with a lot of other things that freaked me out (ask me about the cockroaches on the train sometime...it was a sleeper car and I was stuck on it for 16 hours).

Also, I totally used the water bucket at least once, it works really well if you have a skirt on 'cause you just drip dry.

	True. Which, honestly, just makes it sadder and reminds me I really should buy more skeins of the recycled sari yarn. It may not solve the issue, but every little but helps. (Reply to this)(Parent)
