How about some Halloween wank?
'Tis the season, after all. Grabbed from [info]wank_report

In the "craftgrrl" community, hamburgerhop makes a post asking for advice about her costume idea. People on the internet being intelligent, kind, civil individuals, respond that it is tasteless but provide the relevant information and then ignore it. Right?

First comment says....no.

Some highlights from the rest of the thread:

Person: You're an ass. Other person: Hey, about about some constructive criticism instead of name-calling? In the same thread: I was an addict and it's not worth sympathy, p.s. random race reference

Person: Not funny! OP: I know and don't care!

Person: Hey SF_drama. Other person: LOL GET A LIFE

Wank from a, sadly, deleted comment.

Why bother with PC? It's halloween!

Person: It's a parent's worst nightmare! Other person: So's being goth!

Various other miniwanks throughout the comments. Remarkably, the mod is chill with it.

Oh, and just for that little dollop of meta: name-calling in the wank report. It's cool, kids, I got this one.

edited because I can spell. Really. I swar.

...well, crap, now I'm part of the wank. D: I won't post in the w_r thread anymore, I promise! (Didn't see this until after. D'oh.)

i'm sure if you go as a smack addict, you'll get enough people to punch out your teeth to border on a speedballer aswell. happy halloween!

I am I wrong in thinking that no one who sees a costume like this in real life is very likely to find it offensive? It's like when someone mentioned something on the internet, the defensiveness of everyone goes up about ten times.

I'd have to agree. It may sound bad but it sounds like a pretty ambigious costume to me (judging by what the OP's looking for in the design... and not knowing what a herion addict actually looks like). I get the feeling the reaction in RL would be amongst friends anyway. :P
Hmmm, perhaps discussion on the internet is like... wearing Captain Subtext helmets.

Thanks for having my back lol... I would have snarked it myself, but then I'm just a retard. Sweetie.

It's a pretty tasteless costume, but it's not specifically shocking or outrageous, the way that say dressing up as an Arab bomber (or as the twin towers -- I've seen that one) or say Ashley Todd would be.

I get more offended by those girls who wear skimpy lingerie and cat ears and call it a 'costume'.
