I'm doing a study abroad year in the UK this year (I'm American) and had no idea "Z" was "Zed" in British English until one of my flatmates said it in conversation. But my flatmates and I just laugh about the differences in pronunciation and get over it. I don't understand people who are so stupid about something so ridiculous! It's just words, people.
