A rocket scientist over in [info]techsupport seems to think that Americans invented the English language and that people in the UK and Australia don't speak English.

Man, I love using the Alpha-Bravo-Charlie system to spell things out. It makes me feel like I'm talking to Sgt. Rock.

Actually, my husband's in the military and we use it to talk in front of the kids now that they've learned to spell. It is indeed awesome.

I learned it from my military father when I was a kid, and I've found it especially helpful when talking to customer support on the phone and that sort of thing.

Then there was the time I was talking with some customer support person who spelled out my tracking number by saying, "S as in Savior, C as in Church..."
