Gee, this wank smells terrific
So, what do you think about "salon" shampoos that you buy from overstock stores?

They're evil and wrong. EVIL AND WRONG! DANGER WILL ROBINSON! THEY KILLED A MAN IN RENO JUST TO WATCH HIM DIE!

Yeah, I've had that conversation, too. Being a lifelong cheapass shopper (my children think of name brands as luxury products) I've had the occassional snarky go-round with hair cutters. I usually shut them down when I tell them that the one time I broke down and tried salon shampoo I had to take a second shower later in the day and scrub it out with dish detergent to get the horrible, horrible slimy feeling off my head.

I go to $10/cut hair-cut places, which obviously don't have anything to sell me.

Nowadays I pay about $12 (plua tip - the one thing I am never cheap about anywhere is tips), but around here even the cheap places are stuffed to the rafters with things they want to sell you.

Same price and stock condition where I work -- but at least they're too damn busy to try selling the junk to me.

D: Ohgahd. I hear you.

Also! Salon shampoo usually has an ass-tonne of perfume in it, which gives me a horrid itchfest or headache or both. I use Head and Shoulders on account of having scalp akin to ARRAKIS; my stylist has never once dissed it, because she Gets Such Things.

Even a lot of store brands are just too much. My family uses Suave. It's cheap and it does what I want it to - clean my hair.

I do product testing on and off, and once I did one for an upper crust store brand shampoo and conditioner set. It was the hardest time I have ever had following the rules of a test, because I had to use the conditioner a certain number of times a week. Everyone kept asking me if I was feeling all right because my hair hung in greasy strands even though I was using the bare minimum for the test. I think a couple of coworkers were afraid I had developed mental problems because my hair made it look like I wasn't showering.

I remember on the report I said that the shampoo was not too bad used alone, and the fragrance was pleasant, but that it felt strange to clean my hair then dump lard in it.

Gaaaaah. Just - GAAAAHAHHH. That would have made me go completely, flailingly nuts. I dislike heavy feeling stuff on my hair. I am one of those mad hypersensitive people and GAAAHHH.

But that is the best comment ever there XD

This. I've been driven to cutting my own hair because the stuff at salons triggers migraine/asthma/sinus symptoms. The last time I broke down and had a pro cut my hair I ended up miserable for a week AND my bangs stuck out in ridiculous directions which are as yet uncorrectable except with hats.
