	Huh, I'd always had the opposite experience - every time I went to a salon, even the cheap ones, I had to convince them that no, I didn't want them to style it with stuff in it. Maybe it's the style? I tend to have mine done very short and feathery. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Yeah, that's probably it. Or else the fact that I'm so insistent on "just a blunt bob, please. No, no stacking in the back. No layers in the front, either. Just get it cut...no, please don't blow-dry, it's a waste of electricity, I mean really" sort of convinces them ahead of time that I'm not going to take kindly to it. :P

I love my standard haircut so much. I varied a bit in August by getting it stacked in the back, and it was horrible. It actually required me to use a blow-dryer and styling gel to get it to look right :O

	The stylist I had when I lived in the States had gone to beauty school in the 1980s. No matter what style I experimented with, if I forgot to remind her not to put anything in my hair, I came out of the salon looking like I was about to guest-star on Dynasty. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	I've just got mine trained not to ask whether I want them to blow dry it or let a brush anywhere near my hair. It will just frizz. I'm dreading the day she leaves. (Reply to this)(Parent)

I had one get really huffy when I said 'Please, no product. I'll have a shower as soon as I get home.' I really wasn't trying to be insulting, but having really fine hair means I end up with little tiny bits down my top and they start itching and Argh!

My measure of a good hairdresser is someone who can decently cut my hair the way I described it without having to use stuff to crimp it into place.
