The stylist I had when I lived in the States had gone to beauty school in the 1980s. No matter what style I experimented with, if I forgot to remind her not to put anything in my hair, I came out of the salon looking like I was about to guest-star on Dynasty.

I've just got mine trained not to ask whether I want them to blow dry it or let a brush anywhere near my hair. It will just frizz.

I'm dreading the day she leaves.
