Why is it that even though I agree with the points made, I end up irritated with lactivists? Srsly. I can't put my finger on why this particular group grates so damn badly on my nerves.

But since this is a failed wank, I have a cookie recipe. I found this at food_porn on LJ and it's been a huge hit in my family.

Cream Cheese Thumbprint Cookies

1 (8 ounce) package of cream cheese (softened)
1 cup butter (softened)
1 tsp of vanilla
¼ cup sugar
2 ½ cups of flour
1 small jar of jam or preserves

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream together butter, vanilla, and cream cheese. Stir in the sugar. Then measure out the flower by spoonfuls into the larger measuring cups and add a cup at a time to the creamed mixture. Mix until no dough sticks to the sides of the bowl.

Roll out dough on a floured surface into a medium square, then use a cookie cutter or the brim of a small cup to remove the cookies. Place close together (but not touching) on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Use two cross-ways thumbprints to make a gentle indentation in the cookies and then fill with approximately 1/2 teaspoon of filling—keep it all in the center and don’t overload or you’ll have a sticky mess!

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool and enjoy.

NOTES: I've found it actually takes a bit more flour than is listed in order to keep the dough non-sticky. So start with the recipe amount and adjust as necessary. Additionally, I refrigerate my dough for an hour after mixing. It helps firm up the fats and makes rolling easier. I've used strawberry and raspberry jam here, but this is definitely a YMMV type of ingredient.
