	The activity on JF and LJ is very suspicious. Every time I wake up in the morning, there are a whole pile of posts and comments that just weren't there the night before. This is doubly suspicious considering it is usually so quiet all day, with the exception of a little blip around 7:00pm! Excerpt from A day in the life of a British internet journal user. Don't you know? People who are up all night are one of three things: doctors, prostitutes, and drug dealers.

Srsly, people think this. I work nights (I can work any hours I want long as my work gets done in a week, but being up all night is natural to me), and when I tell strangers that I can't go to x event because I don't exist in the afternoon, I get asked if I'm a doctor. When I say no, I get a horrified look and "what do you... do?" Because those are the three options that exist, and that's it.

Ha ha, I'm a night auditor at a hotel, and I've had guests who came in late at night be *astonished* when they wake up and see me setting out the breakfast.

"Were you here all night? Don't they ever let you go home?! That's exploitation of labor!" (Note: I have about 1.5-2 hours of actual work a night. The rest is spent ~~screwing around on the internet~~ doing homework. I am many things, exploited is not one of them.)

Seriously, who would bring you your 5 extra pillows and a toothbrush if I weren't here?

	Ha ha, that's the other cool thing about my job. I can be sarcastic right back at the guests when they're dumb, because I'm the only employee there, so who's going to rat me out? (The guests who say that are too slow to realize I'm being snarky.) (Reply to this)(Parent)

	I work nights too, as a nurse's aide. I'm good with being up all night too. I can't post on the internet from work, but I can often do RP threads with people in Europe after I get home from work. I've never actually been asked if I'm a doctor. Then again for various reasons I don't look like a doctor. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Yeah, most of my internet friends are in Australia, NZ, or Singapore because of my hours. I also recently found out that quite a few of my American net friends think that I'm an Aussie because of the hours I reply to their emails/posts. Also my username may have confused them. Yeah, I can relate. I have pink hair, have little cash, frequently use a cane, and live in a conservative area (Northern Virginia) where it would be downright bizarre to have a member of the medical profession with hair like mine (despite the number of nurses who've told me they wish they could). But that's still the first place their mind tends to go, either doctor or nurse or "do you work in a hospital?". It's... odd.
