You know what's a great way to soften butter when you're in a hurry and don't have a microwave?

Put a stick in your pocket. I am not even joking. In about ten minutes, it'll be soft enough for most recipes.

For the love of god, keep the wrapper on.

I don't knwo who those chefs are but the good ones as I know them as in 4 and 5 star worthy chefs don't microwave butter.

Why, yes, as a good chef with 4 or 5 stars you will have your industrious aide to microwave the butter for you.
