Alton Brown does what?!?!?
[info]angieobsessed would like us all to know that microwaving butter in order to melt it is a crime against humanity.

This has been a public service announcement.

I'm just pretty sure people in Europe have other knowledge than Americans do.

I love the implication that Europe has been hiding the secrets of butter physics for years now.

I think they also know where Bigfoot is.

So chemistry and physics work differently in Europe. Interesting.

Yeah, even the speed of light is different (300 000 000 in Europe vs. 670,616,629 in the US).

I'm just amazed we had an opportunity to use the "microwave of the night" tag again.

I've always liked the expression 'flying by the seat of your pants'. It always sounds like so much fun. Until, like [info]angieobsessed, you actually do it. D:

See, this is why I miss my Aga.

Softened butter = 10 minutes on a plate on the back ledge.

And while I wait, I can make a nice cup of tea on the boiling plate, toast on the simmering plate, scones in the baking oven, soup in the simmering oven, dry socks on the rack, air a load of sheets and revive a basket of puppies* in the warming oven.

All on one monster appliance that heats two rooms.

*Funniest bit of the puppy rescue was the reaction of the youngest daftest dog when he saw the puppies being slid into the oven. Their mum was, "like, whatever, just let me rest here a bit", while their half-witted half-uncle was convinced I was making stew, howled the house down.
