Alton Brown does what?!?!?
[info]angieobsessed would like us all to know that microwaving butter in order to melt it is a crime against humanity.

This has been a public service announcement.

Wrong kind of plastic container + oily food = plastic puddle topped with tasty, tasty contaminated food. I lost so many Indian and Chinese meals to feeble containers of mystery plastic before I got superchoosy about what kinds of containers I would nuke...

Completely off-topic, but my husband would like to thank you for the lemon-cheese recipe from your site.

It is! Now to figure out uses for all the lemony whey...

Ironically, I had bookmarked your site back in '96 when looking for LARP food, and stumbled back upon it a few weeks ago while cleaning up my favorites. "Issendai? That Issendai? Small internet!"

The friend who taught me to make lemon cheese mentioned a medieval drink recipe that used the lemony whey. I don't recall the name, but medieval cooking sites might have pointers.

The internet is amazingly small, especially when you're in fandom. But it's always good to hear people remember me from back when! *beams, pink* Did we ever run into one another in person before FW?

If you're still looking for LARP food, Traveling Dysshes is a great cookbook. It's hard to find, but Poison Pen Press or one of the other small SCAdian online bookstores might have it.

Ooh, I'll have to cross-reference it on godecookery.com.

I don't think we'd "met" before - my presence in online fandom is mostly lurk-y at best, aside from here on JF.

Thanks for the recommendation on Traveling Dysshes, I've had it wishlisted on Amazon for awhile but haven't gotten around to tracking down a copy. I don't really LARP much since there's so much travel involved, but I love back-to-basics food and fix it for special occassions.
