Alton Brown does what?!?!?
[info]angieobsessed would like us all to know that microwaving butter in order to melt it is a crime against humanity.

This has been a public service announcement.

Do people look like you've grown a second head when you tell them you don't have one? Or is it just me?

That doesn't get as many strange looks as when I reveal I don't have a TV. My students would probably be less surprised if I grew a second head, this being Japan and all, where I understand that sort of thing happens all the time. I've explained to them that my Japanese isn't very good, and here in Japan, TV shows, for some reason, are aired in Japanese. They seem to get it then.

Anyway, while furnishing one's aparment on a teacher's salary, one has to have priorities. Toaster ovens are much cheaper, and you can bake in them. Thus, I opted for a toaster oven over a microwave, which I'll probably eventually get.
