Hair today, wank tomorrow
[info]marveen posts in bad_service about a crappy hairstylist.

[info]amazonvera lets everyone know that if you only pay $12 for a haircut, you deserve what you get and you shouldn't bitch about it.

Short but sweet worth every penny.

Back at home, they make moonshine out of Aqua-Net and dandilions. Evidently it melts the part of your brain that allows you to really feel cold or pain, so it's popular among a certain subset of the (for all intents and purposes suicidal) population.

I can tell the difference (on me) between a cheap haircut from the beauty school and an expensive one in the salon, but it still isn't worth the difference to me, and I also buy whatever shampoo is cheapest.

(I have totally irrational views on make-up however.)

I'm both cheap and lazy, so not only have I neer paid more than $10 for a haircut, I usually wait a few months in between haircuts because if I haven't been in a while the place where I get it cut sends me pretty $7.99 coupons. (I have curly hair, so even when it's long you can't really tell the length unless it gets wet. My criteria for "need a haircut" is generally 'have a coupon' and 'stupid frizzy hair is bugging me,' in that order.)

I have to admit, I love having a beauty college in my town. I've gotten my hair cuts since forever there, and they always do a good job on my hair. And on top of that, it's only $7 for a shampoo and cut. One time I went to a professional salon to get my hair cut, and it was $15 for just a cut. They used a spray bottle to get it slightly damp and then cut it. And on top of that they lectured me about how using non-salon products will ruin my hair and I HAVE to buy salon products TODAY. I think I'll stick to the beauty college, thank you very much.

When you pay a professional for their services, a big part of what you're paying for is their skill, training, and expertise. If you pay a very low price, you should reasonably expect to take a hit in skill, training, and expertise.

This haircut is totally worth $400, you guys! No $12 stylist could ever hope to replicate it!

Is this where I admit to being a horrible person for paying $40 a month for a haircut? I finally found a manageable hairstyle for my thick, curly hair, and I'll start handing over arms and legs to the stylist who can let me look polished without spending 45 minutes with styling tools.
