Hair today, wank tomorrow
[info]marveen posts in bad_service about a crappy hairstylist.

[info]amazonvera lets everyone know that if you only pay $12 for a haircut, you deserve what you get and you shouldn't bitch about it.

Short but sweet worth every penny.

Frankly, I always felt much more professional and good about myself (not to mention more memorable) with my hair down. To my waist.

What's this 'requisite wisps down in front of my ears' crap, anyway? Is she /trying/ to cater to the whole 'sexy stupid secretary' thing?

I see what you're saying. Mileage definitely varies, to an extent. (Having long hair and having had longer I tend to prefer to keep it tied back... mostly because it's quite staticy this time of year. Oh puffball).

I honestly have no idea and I'm not sure I want to know. Maybe she just has no idea of what to do with her hair by herself.

That was the impression I got from her post. You'd think if you had waist-length hair and cared enough to pay someone to style it, it might be worthwhile to learn how to do, like, a bun or something.

I always assumed 'wisps around the ears' was due to the fact my hair will not stay in anything unless you break out large numbers of bobby pins and shellac. If that's the case, you might as well leave those bits down to start, rather than trying to glue them in.

Then again, the tone of the above paragraph probably shows how much regard I give my hair.

Ah, flyaways. Dunno what it's like for people with straight hair, but I hate them so hard because no matter how tight I pull back my hair, I look like I have a halo of fuzz around my head.

Got the same issue! I very nearly never put my hair up for just that reason.

Happens to people with straight hair, too. ::sigh::

Oh god, THIS. I have ringlets and frizz like you would not believe. I grew my hair down to my waist once, but the frizz would not go!

I have those naturally and they make me look like a woodland creature - especially when I'm eating. Seriously the last thing anyone needs at an interview is to be asked: "Would you like coffee? Tea? An acorn, perhaps?"

I go with hair down, too. Then again, I have hair that _looks_ straight but is actually crazy wavy (each strand goes in a different direction, so that the overall mass ends up looking straight until you look closely). The only way I can actually put it up and have it stay for more than a half hour is via a professional stylist, a ton of product before, and a ton of hair spray after. And that only wins me two hours, max. Whereas brushing and a little bit of defrizzer will keep me looking professional for hours.

Ahaha! I had that hair, but I didn't even realize it. Then I got it cut short, and WOAH. CURLS.

My hair would never stay if I tried to put it all behind my ears, personally...

I have hair down to my butt, but I always wear it up in professional situations...otherwise I'll play with it. Plus, it's not really thick enough to look awesome down. I envy those who have hair like that. :)

*grins and TMIs*

I have wispy sideburns...when I had long hair the requisite wisps in front of my ears served to make that look like a style choice and not Koala Features.
