Hair today, wank tomorrow
[info]marveen posts in bad_service about a crappy hairstylist.

[info]amazonvera lets everyone know that if you only pay $12 for a haircut, you deserve what you get and you shouldn't bitch about it.

Short but sweet worth every penny.

So, am I the only person who washes their hair with bar-soap instead of shampoo?

A bar of soap is all you need, my friend.

I use dollar store shampoo if I'm feeling like spoiling myself.

Whenever anyone mentions that, all I can think of is Kristy from The Baby Sitters Club.

You don't coach a softball team, do you?

That would turn my hair into a brillo pad.

I don't even want to think about what that would do to my hair. It is completely uncombable without the more expensive grocery store conditioner.

I used to do that when I had my hair shaved for charity until it grew roughly an inch long. Then it was back to shampoo because my hair does *not* need an excuse to frizz up :P

Consumer Reports on shampoo.

The products we bought cost from $1.40 (for a 15-fluid-ounce bottle) to $11 (13 fluid ounces), but there’s no need to spend a lot: Our past tests have shown that any shampoo is likely to clean hair just fine

In other words? It's soap, damnit.

Shampoo is detergent, not soap. Detergents and soaps work differently.

That'd be me, when it's not winter. My hair sometimes gets so incredibly greasy in the summer that nothing else I've tried will quite do (except T-Gel, but I need half a bottle to do the job).

I've also used dish washing fluid, but that's another story entirely.

OH GOD THE TANGLES. I mean, I'm sure it works fine for you, but I'm pretty sure my hair would strangle me in the the middle of the night if I tried that.

I just switched to bar-shampoo from ChagrinValley (Yes, now your hair too can feel deep chagrin!) last week since I'm getting irationally paranoid about chemicals. So far so good. My hair feels like that corn-silk Barbie hair in the mornings, but it looks okay.

I use shampoo bars from Lush. Does that count?
