Pound for pound this is one of the most befuddling wanks I've seen
A question about a common symbol leads to three pages of cross-Atlantic warfare.

There's really nothing more to say.

I made the mistake of expanding the first comment thread, and the obvious, in-ur-face, troll attitude put me right off the rest of the wank. :(

I liked the part where someone finally pointed out to her that the pound, as in weight, is not actually a measurement of mass. Yay science!

It's one of my great shames (especially as an IT guy) that for the longest time I thought the programming language C# was pronounced "C pound". Only when I got embarassed stares at quiz bowl practice did I realize my mistake.

That's because that's a pound sign and NOT a sharp sign, which leans the other way.

I'm going to go with truck. Because I always understood a lorry to be a bigger hauling-type work truck.

Quick! Internets! Set me straight!

I'm sad no one has called out [info]coendou who has got all huffy about a pound not being a unit of mass.

A pound is a unit of mass; the corresponding unit of weight is the pound-force which is commonly (by everyone except engineers (except when they forget) and pedants) called a pound.

Thanks be that I'm not a member or I'd be there wanking too.
