Pound for pound this is one of the most befuddling wanks I've seen
A question about a common symbol leads to three pages of cross-Atlantic warfare.

There's really nothing more to say.

The Snark Mark!

Oddly enough, I brushed up on my # knowledge when the ampersand wank came up, so I knew that it came about by some arcane deformation of "lb".

I wonder what symbol we'll see wank about next. This one looks promising:
The irony mark or irony point (؟) (French: point d’ironie; also called a snark or zing) is a proposed punctuation mark that was suggested to be used to indicate that a sentence should be understood at a second level.

It's perfect! I saw we adopt it as our very own!

I love it! It will never replace my first love, the interrobang, but I will still hold it dear.

There was ampersand wank?

Also: People could start wanking about how to write ellipses. My personal favourite is this: …, but I've also seen ... and . . .

Apparently they don't exist. Like bisexuals and English majors.

But ... they're on signs and everything!

Sometimes I wish they wouldn't though. I once tried to read a story where the author had replaced every single "and" with an &.

Yep. Ampersand Wank. Right here in the house, with bonus digression about #.

I'd use it but, how do I make it? (Without c/ping from wiki?)

Wiki says: This character can be represented using the reversed question mark (؟) found in Unicode as U+2E2E.

Of course, I have never mastered unicode, so I guess I'm stuck c&ping.

I don't like the irony mark. It lacks subtlety.

One question though - do we have to have it tattooed on our forearms, and will pressing on it summon the Snark Lord?

But of course. And with your lifetime membership, you get a nifty costume and Guy Fawkes to hide your true identity from Scientologists your victims. Limited time offer. Call in the next 3,000 hours and we'll also include this nifty glow in the dark autographed photo of the Snark Lord to keep in the shrine in your closet.
