Do you have alfredo in a can? Well, let him out!
So, [info]hourglasscreate makes a post to the cooking community which includes a recipe for "Easy Fettucine Alfredo" which she supposedly got off of a Campbell's Soup can. This does not go over well.

ETA: Aaaand the second link has gone bye-bye. Now how will I find a recipe for boiled water? ;_;

ANOTHER ETA: She's wanking it up again in a whole new post! This time, it's about "sloppy joes".

Okay, first off, the Gene Wilder macro in the second link? <3

Second, this person is entirely too enthusiastic about their failure.

Third, who the fuck cares about alfredo, a good marinara is always better anyways.

I buy alfredo sauce in a jar. Does this make me even more trashy than someone who uses "cream of" soups?*

*To be honest, I do use cream of chicken in my chicken pot pie. Which totally pwns.

If you are like me and like to have boiled water available to you for lunches and quick meals, just take a large pan and make a huge batch. Then you can freeze it for later use in small portions. It keeps for months!

I'll just sit in this corner over here, hating on Campbell's condensed soup or what ever it's called. Not because it's trashy, but because the ones I've tasted were vile, vile I tell you.

I'll stick with Covent Garden soup if I have some money and Knorr sachets if I don't. (And if I'm really lucky, a sachet of Erin Irish potato soup omnomnomnom :)

It's not wank for someone to say "hey, that's not X" when someone posts a recipe for X that is, you know, not actually X.

Alfredo has a technical definition, like many sauces. That's just the way it is. I can't post a recipe for bechamel that includes cream of mushroom soup, either, at least not if I don't want someone to point out that cream of mushroom soup doesn't go in bechamel.

Actually, I think "squabbling about precise definitions" is one of the basic categories of wank, isn't it?

I made alfredo last night. I put *gasp* cream cheese in it to thicken the sauce. Does that mean I cheated and fail as a cook? Oh noes! I used that awful parmesan in a green can too. Somebody stop me!
