Do you have alfredo in a can? Well, let him out!
So, [info]hourglasscreate makes a post to the cooking community which includes a recipe for "Easy Fettucine Alfredo" which she supposedly got off of a Campbell's Soup can. This does not go over well.

ETA: Aaaand the second link has gone bye-bye. Now how will I find a recipe for boiled water? ;_;

ANOTHER ETA: She's wanking it up again in a whole new post! This time, it's about "sloppy joes".

So, anyone else suddenly have a craving for something cheap and processed? Preferably dusted with store-bought cheese.

Yep. I'm feeling a sudden need for sodium, myself. I'm tempted to walk down to the freezer vending machine and buy one of those little pizzas.

I had something like that for lunch. (Casserole with canned tomatos, frozen peppers and onions, ground turkey, mozzarella-cheese-in-a-bag, and a dinner-roll-in-a-can crust.) I think the original recipe called for fried onion sticks on top, too, for a bit of crunch.

It was very tasty.

I'm craving the hash brown casserole recipe I got out of the Sydney, Nova Scotia Curling Club cookbook. Canned cream of chicken soup, frozen hash browns, sour cream and cheddar cheese, topped with crusked cornflakes and melted butter. It's one of my ultimate trashy eats -- someday I may even try it with potato chips a la tuna noodle casserole. It's also flipping delicious.

Nope, can't eat cheap and processed foods. Sends my lactose-intolerance off the deep end.

Store-bought pre-shredded cheese. Mmmmm.

I was already thinking about possibly making my favorite "just got home from a crappy night at work" recipe:

GHETTO GARLIC BREAD!

Take 1 slice of store-brand Italian bread (hey, my store brand has sesame seeds, unlike some name brands), and slather it with some butter-esque "spread" that comes from a tub. Sprinkle, also liberally, with garlic powder. Grab a big handful of store-brand shredded mozzarella or "Italian" cheese that was on sale (also better than many name brands I've tried, amazingly), dump in center of bread. Use fingers to spread it out.

Set directly on rack in toaster oven, toast on the upper edge of the "light" setting or until cheese is slightly browned on top. Ignore the fact that shredded cheese is dripping all over the bottom of the toaster oven. If necessary, remove batteries from kitchen smoke detector. (If you do this, remember to put them back in until the next time you make this dish!) Remove bread from oven with fingernails because you don't want to wait long enough for it to cool. Sprinkle with black pepper until your taste buds cringe just looking at it.

(But I am just food snobbish enough now that I grind the black pepper now instead of using a shaker. Eating this so often increased my tolerance of pepper until I could hardly taste the pre-ground stuff.)

My brother likes to spread a mix of cream cheese and a little (more) garlic on top of the store-bought bread, then heat it up in the oven. OMG SO GOOD.

1 16oz package dried pasta (radiatori works great, lots of surface area)
1 26oz jar tomato based pasta sauce
2 cups shredded cheese of choice
Optional:
1 pound hamburger
1/2 package frozen onions and peppers
1 can sliced mushrooms

In 13x9x2" pan mix uncooked pasta, sauce, and one full sauce jar of water. If going for the options, fry the meat up with the onions and peppers and sprinkle it and the mushrooms over the pasta. Cover tightly with foil and bake at 350F for 35 minutes. Stir and check if the pasta is nearly done. If it isn't add a bit more water and bake a bit longer. If it is, top with cheese and bake uncovered for about 10 minutes. Enjoy with your cheap and quick garlic bread of choice.

Baked pasta where I don't have to precook the pasta? LOVE. I will be trying it with an added can (15oz) of tomatoes (stewed, diced, crushed, something) the next time I make it though, I think the pasta could use just a smidge more moisture and tomato-y goodness.

Well, I was going to eat Top Ramen with carrots anyway (yay student jobs that barely pay the bills), but now I can eat it and...rejoice in my pleb-ness, I guess.
